3rd Generation
Third generation computers were used between 1965 and 1971. They are characterized by integrated circuits. The computers were more affordable that the first and second generation computers. The Digital Equipment Corporation introduced the first commercially successful minicomputer. Third generation computers could run multiple programs for many people at the same time. These computers were lighter, more power efficient, and smaller.
